Facts About Oak Hill, TN

Found in Davidson County, Oak Hill is home to more than 4,500 residents. It has the distinction of having the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion within its borders. While the city is administered under the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Oak Hill continues to maintain its own municipal government.

Oak Hill was the site of the area’s first amusement park. Founded as Woodstock Park in 1887, it was soon known as Glendale Park. The park would remain in operation until 1932.

The city has its origins in the latter part of the 18th century. Much like other municipalities in the area, Oak Hill remained primarily a farming community throughout the 19th century. After World War II, the city saw a rapid increase in population. That led to the official incorporation of Oak Hill in 1952.

Oak Hill is home to the majority of Radnor Lake State Park. This, along with the Governor’s Mansion, are the two main attractions for the area.

Just under 1,800 people over the age of 60 reside in Oak Hill. Of that number, 195 people live in single-person households and may be candidates for professional home care services. There are 565 household that contain two or more people over the age of 60. That includes 26 households containing elderly people who are not related.
