Facts About Berry Hill, TN

Found in Davidson County, Berry Hill is home to more than 500 residents. The history of the area is traced back to the 19th century. Known for a number of years as a farming community, the city is now part of the Nashville and Davidson County Municipal Government.

Berry Hill is named for William Wells Berry, who once owned much of the area where the city is now located. Well into the 20th century, Berry Hill remained an unincorporated community. That changed in 1950. At that time, the citizens voted to incorporate as a means to prevent annexation efforts.

In 1963, Berry Hill became part of the consolidated government for Nashville and Davidson County. The city continued to operate many of the basic services already established, while receiving additional support via the consolidated government. That included continuing to elect a mayor and maintain a city hall.

Berry Hill holds the distinction of being the site of the first enclosed shopping mall in the state. Named the 100 Oaks Mall, the shopping facility remains in operation today.

The city is home to 330 people who are over the age of 60. Of that number, 33 individuals live in single-person homes and may be in need of home care support. There are 21 households that contain two or more people over 60, along with other family members. There are also three households that contain unrelated people over the age of 60.
